LSF Corner : A New and Engaging Hub for Visitors

Jakarta – Visitors The Film Censorship Institution of the Republic of Indonesia (Lembaga Sensor Film Republik Indonesia / LSF RI) are now welcomed by a fresh new attraction: a mini museum and public education center located in the building’s main lobby.

The space showcases a rich collection of materials tracing the journey of Indonesian cinema, including historical film censorship archives, censorship tools from different eras, and profiles of key figures who have shaped the nation’s film censorship and cinematic landscape.

Named LSF Corner, the installation functions as both an exhibition space and an educational platform dedicated to age-based film classification. It highlights the criteria for All Ages (SU), Teen 13+ (R13), Adult 17+ (D17), and Adult 21+ (D21) films, while also serving as a focal point for the National Movement for a Self-Censorship Culture  promoting the principle of watching according to age.

Located on the ground floor of the LSF building, the space was officially inaugurated on Friday (December 19, 2025). According to LSF Chairman Naswardi, LSF Corner is designed as a dialogue space for film professionals and industry stakeholders, supporting consultation services related to film review, censorship, and age classification decisions. “This space is meant to help people understand that censorship should no longer be seen narrowly as a restriction on creative expression,” Naswardi explained.

LSF Corner also provides reference resources for audiences, including film guides that serve as practical tools to protect children, one of the most vulnerable groups from exposure to sensitive content. These include depictions of pornography, violence, narcotics, gambling, degradation of human dignity, ethnic and religious discrimination (SARA), and other unlawful activities.

By blending education, history, and public engagement, LSF Corner reinforces LSF’s mission to foster responsible viewing habits while strengthening Indonesia’s commitment to ethical, age appropriate, and culturally grounded cinema. (Nuz)
