LSF Awards 2025 Moves Into Top Three Selection

Jakarta, August 22, 2025 – The curation process for the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) Awards 2025 has now reached the stage of narrowing nominees down to the top three in each of its 18 categories.

As explained by Hadi Artomo, Chair of the LSF Awards 2025 Jury, the evaluation stage that is carried out by the jury is based on eligibility standards mandated by Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 14 of 2009 on Censorship Guidelines and Criteria, Age Classification, and Withdrawal of Films and Advertisements from Circulation.

“This means every film must adhere to both primary and supporting references,” Hadi noted. He added that nominees are drawn from data recorded in LSF’s digital censorship platform, e-SiAS. “From the approximately 42,000 entries processed annually through this system, we’ve conducted our selection,” he said.

In total, 58,415 films and advertisements submitted between August 2023 to December 2024 were considered. The evaluation phases were carried out by 17 LSF commissioners and 20 censorship officers, representing diverse backgrounds and divided into six panels.

Hadi emphasized that the process is fully independent, balancing artistic quality, educational value, and cultural contribution. “From the 10 shortlisted nominees, we are now narrowing them to three finalists before naming the winners in each category,” he explained.

Now in its fifth year, the LSF Awards carries the theme “Beacon of Diverse Screens for Indonesia”. The theme highlights LSF’s role in guiding Indonesia’s varied film ecosystem toward harmony and fairness, while also promoting age classification, self-censorship education, and awareness of quality viewing across society.

This direction, LSF believes, will contribute positively to the nation. Reflecting that vision, the naming of the 18 award categories focuses strongly on the LSF’s flagship program, the National Movement for a Self-Censorship Culture (Gerakan Nasional Budaya Sensor Mandiri / GNBSM), first launched in 2021.
