LSF and OTT Platforms Strengthen Regulatory Compliance

Jakarta, July 20, 2026 — A Film Censorship Approval Certificate (STLS) is required for the exhibition of films not only in cinemas, but also on television and, more recently, on over-the-top (OTT) platforms and information technology networks (JTI). In light of this requirement, Vidio sought to strengthen its coordination with the Film Censorship Board of Indonesia (LSF RI) after reviewing LSF’s annual report, which identified several findings related to the implementation of STLS on content available through the Vidio platform.

“We are not here to defend ourselves. Instead, we want to understand how we can improve. As a local OTT platform, we hope to receive guidance from LSF so that the implementation of STLS on Vidio complies with the applicable regulations,” said Vidio Managing Director Hermawan Sutanto during a meeting at the LSF office in Jakarta on Monday (July 20, 2026).

Responding to the matter, LSF Chair Naswardi explained that all data presented in LSF’s performance report are derived from routine monitoring conducted by LSF’s censorship officers. The monitoring includes visits to cinemas, television broadcast monitoring systems, and manual monitoring of OTT platforms.

“All monitoring results are compiled as the basis for preparing LSF’s annual performance report,” he said.

Through continued coordination, both parties hope to improve the implementation of STLS requirements and the display of audience age classification notices, thereby strengthening public protection and supporting the development of a responsible digital film ecosystem. (Michelle Pangaribuan/Tin)
