LSF Encourages Universitas Semarang Students to Take an Active Role
Jakarta, September 23, 2026 — The Film Censorship Board of Indonesia (LSF RI) has a primary responsibility to protect the public through the review, assessment, and age classification of films and film advertisements.
“This ensures that the public has access to appropriate, healthy, and quality viewing,” said LSF Chair Naswardi to faculty members and students from the Communication Studies Program at Universitas Semarang (USM) during their visit to the LSF RI office in Jakarta on Wednesday (September 23, 2026).
Naswardi added that, in addition to increasing public understanding of audience age classifications, LSF encourages young people to play an active role in promoting a Culture of Self-Censorship. LSF also provides opportunities for university students seeking academic collaboration through its internship program.
Similarly, Head of the LSF Research and Development Subcommission Zaqia Ramallah encouraged USM students to promote age-appropriate viewing within their immediate communities.
“As an intellectual community, university students are agents of change. Let us help protect younger people and those around us by encouraging them to always watch films that are appropriate for their age,” she said.
Meanwhile, Head of the LSF Censorship Subcommission Hadi Artomo explained the criteria for film censorship and audience age classifications, ranging from All Ages (SU) and 13+ to 17+ and 21+, followed by a discussion session.
USM faculty member Tika Ristya Djaya also expressed appreciation for the opportunity provided by LSF.
“We hope the students can gain valuable insights and observe firsthand how communication studies are applied in a professional environment,” she said. (Sani Nur Halizah/Tin)
