This Is the Broadcasting Industry with the Highest Volume of Censorship Materials
Jakarta, April 22, 2026 — Throughout 2025, the Film Censorship Board of Indonesia (LSF RI) processed a total of 4,998 censorship submissions from ANTV, making it the national television broadcaster with the highest number of censorship materials last year.
This was revealed during LSF visit to ANTV in Jakarta on Wednesday (April 22, 2026), conducted as part of a socialization program on updates to service standards for the censorship of films and film advertisements. On that occasion, LSF also presented an award certificate in recognition of this achievement.
LSF Chair Naswardi expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation that has been established between LSF and broadcasting institutions in the national censorship process. He also outlined several updates currently being prepared, particularly the integration of the licensing system with the Ministry of Culture through a single, integrated digital platform.
“This system is targeted to be operational in May 2025 and is expected to simplify service processes for industry stakeholders. With this system, industry players will only need to input data once for both licensing and censorship purposes,” said Naswardi.
ANTV Director of Programming and Communications Kiki Zulkarnain expressed appreciation for the award presented by LSF while also describing current conditions in the television industry. He noted that programming at ANTV is still dominated by imported content, particularly Indian films. “This is because it is more efficient compared to producing local content with the same level of quality,” he explained.
As part of efforts to balance imported content with the preservation of cultural heritage, Kiki added that ANTV also actively broadcasts Indonesian classic films. “We air around 23 Indonesian classic film titles to reintroduce local content to younger generations,” he said. (Rosalinda/Nuz)
