Fadli Zon Reaffirms Government Commitment to Strengthening the Cultural Ecosystem

Jakarta –The Government of Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing national culture as a strategic direction for sustainable, adaptive, and globally competitive cultural development.

The commitment was conveyed by the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, during the event “2025 Reflection, 2026 Policy” held in Jakarta on Thursday (8 January 2026). The policy direction is based on Law No. 5 of 2017 on Cultural Advancement, which positions culture as a pillar of national identity and a source of public welfare.

Speaking before government officials and cultural practitioners, the Minister emphasized that culture is not merely a legacy of the past, but a living force that continues to grow and shape national identity in line with societal change.

“Through strengthening the arts ecosystem, preserving cultural heritage sites and museums, leveraging digitalization, and advancing international cultural diplomacy, the state is committed to positioning culture as a source of welfare, a space for public dialogue, and a unifying force for Indonesia’s diverse society,” Fadli stated.

He added that the government continues to reinforce the arts and cultural ecosystem through the revitalization of heritage sites and historical locations, including mosques, churches, cemeteries, temples, museums, and cultural areas across various regions. These efforts aim to safeguard historical values while increasing public use of cultural spaces.

To support these goals, the Ministry of Culture (Kementerian Kebudayaan) will continue to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation, participate in international forums, and implement cultural exchange and residency programs.

“In the context of technological advancement and globalization, cultural digitalization presents a strategic opportunity to broaden public access, strengthen documentation, and ensure that cultural values and meanings remain relevant for future generations,” added the Vice Minister of Culture, Giring Ganesha.(Ahmad Fayi Zulfahmi/Nuz)
