Anugerah LSF 2025: Honoring Outstanding Contributions to Indonesian Cinema

The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF RI) will host the fifth Anugerah LSF  in Jakarta on Sunday, September 7, 2025. This year’s theme, “Suar Ragam Layar untuk Indonesia” (“The Beacon of Diverse Screens for Indonesia”), symbolizes LSF’s mission to serve as a guiding light for the country’s diverse media landscape.

The event aims to be a platform of appreciation for film and broadcasting industry professionals who have made significant contributions by producing high-quality, culturally respectful films and programs. LSF Chairman Naswardi highlighted that 2024 marked a historic peak for Indonesian cinema, as for the first time domestic film production surpassed the total number of imported films screened in cinemas. “This achievement deserves the highest recognition for advancing the national film industry through Anugerah LSF 2025,” he stated.

According to Gustav Aulia, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the 18 award categories this year focus more on LSF’s priority program: the National Movement for a Culture of Self-Censorship (Gerakan Nasional Budaya Sensor Mandiri ), launched in 2021. These include categories such as Best Self-Censored All-Ages Cinema Film and Best Self-Censored Film Poster. There are also four television-related awards, including Best Self-Censored Television and Best Television in Promoting Educational Values, reflecting the fact that 90 percent of censored material are from Broadcastin Industry.

The jury panel consists of 17 LSF members and 20 censorship staff from diverse backgrounds, divided into six independent groups. Their assessments consider artistic quality, educational value, and cultural contributions. “We have already shortlisted the top 10 nominees, which will be narrowed down to three finalists before selecting the winners for each category,” explained Jury Chair Hadi Hartomo. He added that evaluations cover both quantitative and qualitative aspects, as mandated by Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 14 of 2009 on Censorship Guidelines, Audience Age Classification, and the Withdrawal of Films and Film Advertisements from Circulation.
