One Year of Progress: LSF Marks Milestone with Four Key Launches
Jakarta, August 28, 2025 – A ceremonial tumpeng cutting led by LSF Chairman Naswardi marked the one-year anniversary of the inauguration of the 17 commissions of the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for the 2024–2028 term. Held in Jakarta, the occasion wasn’t just about celebration, it also served as a moment to inaugurate four institutional milestones.
During the event, the LSF formally signed three key regulatory instruments: the Institutional Regulation on Censorship Mechanisms, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Film Censorship, and the SOP for Dialogue Reviews. These documents codify critical workflows that govern how the agency evaluates and guides public film content in Indonesia.
This was followed by the signing of LSF’s Business Process Documentation, a framework that maps out internal procedures across departments and the official launch of the newly upgraded Re-Censorship Room, a space designed to support re-evaluation of film content under specific circumstances.
The festive atmosphere was shared by LSF’s 33 censorship officers and the entire staff. But amid the joy, came a solemn reminder of the agency’s mandate: to guard and guide the nation’s screen expressions so they remain in harmony with cultural values, legal standards, and the public’s protection.
The tumpeng, in Javanese philosophy, represents the mountains, symbolizing fertility, prosperity, and harmony. Naswardi emphasized this symbolism to reflect the spirit of mutual growth and support within LSF’s work culture.
“In just one year, seven new regulations have been ratified, including our institutional certification,” said Chairman Naswardi. “Soon, we’ll also be introducing the LSF Corner on the ground floor, so visitors can enjoy a more welcoming and informative space.”
As LSF moves into its second year of the 2024–2028 term, the occasion also served as a call to action for all staff and officers of this independent state agency. The message was clear: continue to raise the bar in dedication, professionalism, and integrity in carrying out the agency’s crucial mission to ensure the circulation of films that are not only healthy and educational, but also aligned with the cultural values of the Indonesian people.
