LSF RI is a permanent, independent state institution tasked with assessing the eligibility of films and film advertisements before they are distributed or publicly screened. This evaluation, filtration, and research process is designed to protect the public while ensuring their right to quality cinematic content.
Under Article 57 of Law No. 33 of 2009 on Film, all films and film advertisements must obtain a Surat Tanda Lulus Sensor (STLS, Film Censorship Certificate) from LSF before distribution or exhibition. To foster awareness among filmmakers and industry players in choosing and producing content, LSF conducts censorship literacy programs as part of its mission to ensure film production, distribution, and exhibition adhere to Indonesian regulations, with the ultimate goal of protecting the public from harmful content.
