Promoting Self-Censorship Culture, LSF Holds 2025 National Children's Songwriting Competition

Jakarta, September 29, 2025

Carrying the theme “Smartly Choosing and Sorting Content”, Film Censorship Institution of The Republic of Indonesia (LSF RI) has officially launched the 2025 National Children’s Songwriting Competition, a creative and educational initiative for children that also forms part of the National Movement for a Self-Censorship Culture (Gerakan Nasional Budaya Sensor Mandiri / GNBSM).

This initiative invites children to become a bridge between the long-standing traditions of childhood culture and the rapidly evolving world of mass media and technology. Through simple lyrics and cheerful melodies, positive messages can be delivered in a way that is both engaging and memorable.

“That’s why this program was designed as a children’s songwriting competition, involving music professionals to ensure quality,” said LSF RI Chairperson Naswardi in a written statement from Jakarta on Monday (September 29, 2025).

Registration is open from September 29 to November 6, 2025, and is open to students aged 15 to 25 years, whether in school or university. Participants must fill out the registration form available at https://bit.ly/LombaCiptaLaguAnakLSF2025, and submit a copy of their student ID along with a signed and stamped declaration of originality.

Submissions can be made individually or in groups of up to four people. Entries must be based on LSF’s official jingle and uploaded to the participant’s YouTube account, with a short version also shared on TikTok using the hashtags:
#LombaCiptaLaguAnak | #LembagaSensorFilm | #GerakanNasionalBudayaSensorMandiri | #GNBSM

The competition is intended to instill positive values and foster creativity among younger generations through works that are educational, inspiring, and fun.

LSF RI is a permanent and independent state institution tasked with assessing the eligibility of films and film advertisements before they are distributed or publicly screened. This mandate is based on Article 57 of Law No. 33 of 2009 on Cinema, which requires all films and film advertisements to obtain a Censorship Certificate (STLS) from LSF prior to circulation or exhibition.
