Jakarta, July 7, 2026 — As one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, Muhammadiyah is active not only in religious outreach but also in education, social and humanitarian services, economic development, and culture. Through its Central Board’s Institute for Arts and Culture (LSB PP Muhammadiyah), the organization is engaged not only in cultural preservation but also in supporting the creative industries and the film sector.

For this reason, both parties agreed that collaboration between the Film Censorship Board of Indonesia (LSF RI) and LSB PP Muhammadiyah is important and should be revitalized.

“Particularly through workshops and cultural programs that can nurture young filmmakers and strengthen the development of Indonesia’s film industry,” said Treasurer of LSB PP Muhammadiyah Aisyah Ulfa during a meeting at the LSF office in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 7, 2026).

Responding to the proposal, LSF Chair Naswardi noted that LSF has collaborated with a number of Muhammadiyah-affiliated universities through programs promoting audience age classification and film literacy.

“Going forward, we hope this partnership can continue to grow through various outreach and film literacy initiatives,” Naswardi said.

In addition to discussing opportunities for future cooperation, the meeting also covered developments in Indonesia’s film industry, LSF’s role in film censorship, the implementation of audience age classification, and the importance of outreach to film production companies and the public. The discussion is expected to further strengthen communication between LSF and LSB PP Muhammadiyah in supporting the development of Indonesia’s film ecosystem. (Michelle Pangaribuan/Nuz)
