LSF Conducted GNBSM Campaign in Indramayu
Indramayu, West Java — The Indonesian Film censcorship institution of The republic of Indonesia (Lembaga Sensor Film Republik Indonesia/LSF RI) continued its nationwide campaign, Gerakan Nasional Budaya Sensor Mandiri (GNBSM), with a special event in Indramayu, West Java, on Monday, July 4, 2025. The initiative featured a public screening of the film Lyora: Penantian Buah Hati, attended by local residents and key stakeholders.
LSF Chairman Naswardi emphasized that GNBSM is part of an ongoing effort to educate the public and foster a culture of responsible film consumption. He explained that LSF’s age classification system is designed to help audiences choose content appropriate for their age group making film not just a source of entertainment, but also a tool for education.
“It’s essential for us to raise the standard of media literacy across the country,” Naswardi stated. “A good film is one that aligns with the viewer’s age classification.”
Dave Laksono, Vice Chairman of Commission I DPR RI, underscored the importance of instilling viewing awareness in younger generation. “And it has to start at home—with families, with fathers and mothers guiding their children,” he said.
Meanwhile, LSF’s Head of the Public Communication Sub-Commission, Nusantara Husnul Khatim Mulkan, highlighted the challenges posed by the digital age. The rapid flow of information, he noted, has made it increasingly difficult for families to distinguish between suitable and unsuitable content. Since 2021 LSF has launched the GNBSM to raise public awareness about the importance of selecting appropriate content for viewing,” he explained.
Adding to the event’s depth, Syaifullah Agam, Director of Film, Music, and Arts at the Ministry of Culture, shared statistical insights on the number of domestic and imported films released throughout 2024.
Through GNBSM, LSF RI invites all members of the public especially Sahabat Sensor Mandiri (Independent Censorship Advocates) to support the creation accountable national film ecosystem. Indramayu marks the 26th stop in LSF 2025 GNBSM tour across Indonesia.
