Number of STLS Issued by LSF in the First Semester of 2026

Jakarta, July 28, 2026 — Of the 16,805 film and film advertisement submissions received from content owners, the Film Censorship Board of Indonesia (LSF RI) issued 16,802 Film Censorship Approval Certificates (STLS) during the first half of 2026. This represents a 99.99% approval rate for all materials submitted during the period.

Presenting the data at the Film Censorship Evaluation Meeting, attended by all LSF members and censorship officers at the LSF Cinema Room in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 28, 2026), Head of the LSF Data and Information Subcommission Dewi Rahmarini explained that the total also represents 40.9% of LSF's 2026 Strategic Plan target of 41,100 titles.

“There were three films for which we were unable to issue an STLS,” she said.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of standard operating procedures, the condition of censorship studios, operator performance, and censorship officers’ understanding of audience age classifications and censorship regulations. Participants further discussed strategies for achieving LSF’s annual censorship targets and gathered recommendations, including expanding the reach of censorship services through cooperation with various stakeholders and strengthening public education through communities, schools, universities, and broadcasting institutions.

“Through this evaluation, we can identify what has been achieved and what still needs to be improved so that the targets we have set can be accomplished,” said LSF Vice Chair Noorca M. Massardi. He added that the evaluation is an essential part of assessing censorship performance while formulating strategies to address the evolving challenges facing the film and broadcasting industries.

Through this evaluation, LSF RI reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of its censorship services so they remain professional, adaptive, and responsive to developments in the film and broadcasting sectors. (Michelle Pangaribuan/Tal)
