Wicked: For Good
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), the Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile deep within the forests of Oz. She continues her fight for the freedom of Oz’s animals while uncovering the truth behind the powerful Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Meanwhile, Glinda (Ariana Grande), now the beloved symbol of goodness, resides in the Emerald City, basking in luxury, fame, and public adoration under the guidance of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). As Glinda’s popularity spreads and she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), her attempts to reconcile Elphaba and the Wizard only push them further apart, altering Boq (Ethan Slater) and Fiyero’s destinies forever. The arrival of a mysterious girl from Kansas also puts Nessarose (Marissa Bode), Elphaba’s sister, in grave danger.
This film adapts the second act of the musical Wicked by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, itself based on Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked, a reimagining of the Oz universe and the classic film The Wizard of Oz (Larry Semon, 1925). Vibrant yet emotionally probing, the film revisits themes of morality, power, and identity in ways that resonate with contemporary audiences. The Film Censorship Institution of the Republic of Indonesia (LSF) has rated this film suitable for audiences aged 13 and above. (air)
