The Voice of Hind Rajab
The film describes a chronology of Hind, a young Palestinian girl who makes a desperate emergency call to Red Crescent volunteers after she and her family become trapped inside a car under gunfire from Israeli military forces along the Gaza route. Tragically, Hind is the sole survivor. Rana (Saja Kilani), a Red Crescent volunteer, remains on the line with Hind, struggling to keep the call connected until an ambulance can reach her, while another volunteer, Omar (Motaz Malhees), relentlessly fights to ensure emergency assistance is dispatched in time.
The Voice of Hind Rajab received a 22-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival on 6 September 2025 and won eight out of nine nominations. As one of three films about Hind Rajab released in 2025, Kaouther Ben Hania’s work stands out for its sensitive, documentary-inspired approach that prioritizes humanity over sensationalized tragedy. Featuring an entirely Palestinian cast, the film amplifies the raw voice of a child seeking help amid conflict. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has rated the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (adl)
