The Unbreakable Boy
Austin (Jacob Laval), a boy on the autism spectrum, has a genetic brittle bone condition inherited from his mother. Austin is deeply loved by his father, Scott (Zachary Levi), his mother, Teresa (Meghann Fahy), and his younger brother, Logan (Gavin Warren). Their family life appears harmonious and full of joy. One day, each member of the family begins facing their own difficult challenges. Yet Austin, who is seen as a fragile child in need of constant protection, becomes the very person who brings the family together and inspires happiness in the lives of many others.
The film is based on a true story chronicled in the book The Unbreakable Boy: A Father’s Fear, a Son’s Courage, and a Story of Unconditional Love, written by Scott M. LeRette and Susy Flory. Filming took place during the COVID-19 pandemic from November to December 2020 in Oklahoma, United States. The Unbreakable Boy was originally scheduled for release in the United States on 18 March 2022, but Lionsgate withdrew it from the release schedule before rescheduling it for 21 February 2025. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (adl)
