Jefri (Martino Lio), a kind-hearted debt collector, lives a modest life with his wife, Ella (Sallum Ratu Ke), who is eight months pregnant. When they learn that their baby is in a breech position, the couple must urgently find money for a costly operation. Struggling financially, Ella secretly resumes work as an online motorcycle taxi driver despite her condition. Tragedy strikes when she is hit by a truck while carrying a passenger. Desperate to save his wife and unborn child, Jefri frantically searches for a hospital but is rejected by several clinics before finally arriving at a mysterious private facility run by a couple, Iwan (Donny Alamsyah) and Sandra (Agla Artalidia) whose dark secrets soon unfold in horrifying ways.
Sallum Ratu Ke, who portrays Ella, previously played Bertha in Women From Rote Island (directed by Jeremias Nyangoen), the multi-award-winning film that received four Citra Awards at the 2023 Indonesian Film Festival. Tumbal Darah, also set to screen at the 2025 Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF), is classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 17 and above.
