The Social Reckoning
Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), an employee of the social media platform Facebook, discovers internal information concerning the company’s undisclosed practices and policies. Together with Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, Frances seeks to bring the information to light. Their efforts confront them with various challenges as they uncover Facebook’s hidden practices, while revealing the far-reaching influence and impact of social media on people’s lives.
Based on the internal Facebook documents disclosed by Frances Haugen in 2021, the film revisits the hidden story behind the social media platform. It serves as a companion film to David Fincher’s The Social Network (2010), which received international recognition in 2011. At the 83rd Academy Awards, The Social Network won three Oscars: Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin), Best Original Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), and Best Film Editing (Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter). The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified The Social Reckoning for audiences aged 17 and above. Be discerning in selecting content suitable for your age. (poc)
