Sinners
Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan) return to their hometown in Louisiana, United States. They purchase an old warehouse and plan to turn it into a club. Smoke and Stack invite their cousin, Sammie Moore (Miles Caton), to join them as one of the musicians, despite the disapproval of Sammie’s father, Reverend Jedidiah (Saul Williams). Stack assures Jedidiah that they want to start a new and peaceful life. However, instead of finding peace, they are confronted by an immensely powerful evil force.
Sinners is a film rich in implicit messages. Set against the backdrop of racism in the 1930s, the film also depicts the involvement of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a white supremacist organization known for terrorism and extremist ideology. Ryan Coogler uses the film as a medium to explore philosophical and existential questions. Featuring horror elements, sexual content, and proportionate scenes of violence, Sinners has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 17 and above.
