Siapa Dia
Layar (Nicholas Saputra), Rintik (Amanda Rawles), and Denok (Widi Mulia) set out to produce a musical film. Their creative journey begins when Layar discovers an old suitcase at his great-grandmother’s house, filled with letters and diaries. These documents draw him into a forgotten love story that parallels the development of Indonesian cinema across different eras.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Garin Nugroho, Siapa Dia is a cinematic musical that intertwines personal storytelling with the broader history of Indonesian film. Known for works such as Cinta dalam Sepotong Roti (1991), Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku (Memories of My Body, 2019), Setan Jawa (2016), and Tjokroaminoto: Guru Bangsa (2015), Garin has established himself as a master of blending art, culture, and narrative. He previously won the 2019 Indonesian Film Festival awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay with Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku. Through music and dance, Siapa Dia celebrates the legacy of Indonesian cinema while offering audiences a reflection on love, memory, and cultural heritage. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has rated the film suitable for viewers aged 13 plus. (cha)
