The Sheep Detectives
George Hardy (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who enjoys reading murder novels to his sheep every night. One day, George is found dead outside his trailer home. After an investigation led by police officer Tim Derry (Nicholas Braun), his death is determined to have been caused by poisoning. The investigation becomes more intriguing with the help of several intelligent and humorous sheep: Sebastian (voiced by Bryan Cranston), Lily (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Mopple (Chris O’Dowd). The murder case also attracts the attention of journalist Elliot Matthew (Nicholas Galitzine).
Adapted from the novel Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story (2005) by Leonie Swann, the film follows a flock of sheep attempting to solve the murder of their shepherd. Director Kyle Balda, known for his work in animation, previously directed Despicable Me 3 (2017) and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022).
