RED SONJA
As a child, Red Sonja (Matilda Lutz) is separated from her brother Draygan (Robert Sheehan) when their homeland of Hykarnian is attacked by the Anzuz, leading to the death of her mother, Sonja (Veronica Ferres). Raised in the wilderness with only her horse Vihur as a companion, Sonja grows up resilient. At 17, she witnesses soldiers brutally slaughtering a rhinoceros for its horn. Determined to stop the cruelty, she follows them to the kingdom, where she confronts the emperor and his ruthless allies. Along the way, Sonja unites with fellow captives, leading a rebellion against the greed-driven empire intent on destroying the forest.
The character of Red Sonja first appeared in Marvel Comics (1973). The story was adapted into a film in 1985, directed by Richard Fleischer. A revival project in 2008 was canceled, but after years of changes in directors, cast, and writers, the legend returns with Red Sonja (2025), directed by M.J. Bassett.
