Ryan (Andrew Barrett) receives news that his father (Indra Pacique) has died by suicide in Desa Kidul. When Ryan wants to attend his father’s funeral, his mother (Adelia Rasya) forbids him from going. However, Ryan still travels to Desa Kidul with Alana (Bulan Sofya), Ben (Michael Russell), and Elsa (Annisa Aurelia). They eventually discover that Desa Kidul is under a curse known as “Pulung Gantung.” Anyone affected by the curse will be “controlled” and driven to die by suicide by hanging.

Drawing on an urban legend believed by communities in Java, the film is directed by Chiska Doppert, who began her career as a director with Missing (2005) and continued directing feature films until 2014. In 2025, she released Pulung Gantung – Pati Ngendat, which has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 17 and above.
