Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a high school science teacher, awakens alone aboard a spacecraft. Far from Earth, he has no memory of his identity or mission. As fragments of his past gradually return, he realizes he has been sent on a challenging journey to stop a mysterious microorganism that is draining the sun’s energy and threatening all life on Earth.
