In a remote village, Marni (Siti Wulandari), Anto (Bram Wicaksana), and Lisa (Xien Bein) live in poverty and endure constant humiliation. With no money, they cannot even afford life’s simplest pleasures. Desperate to escape their circumstances, the three seek another way out. They eventually meet Karso (Rafly Alfaridzi), a mysterious young man who introduces them to Samuaji (Piet Pagau), a penghulu setan who can turn humans into cursed spouses of supernatural entities. After hearing about the turmoil in the village, an ustadz (Berry Prima) attempts to prevent the occult ritual from taking place.

The film marks the return of legendary action star Berry Prima to the Indonesian film industry after a long absence. This feature film also brings together performers from different generations, including emerging talent Bram Wicaksana, who serves as both an actor and producer. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified Penghulu Setan for audiences aged 21 and above. Be discerning in selecting content suitable for your age. (fas)
