Prajapati Pandey (Ayushmann Khurrana), a dedicated forestry officer, shares a loving marriage with his wife, Aparna Trivedi (Wamiqa Gabbi). His life takes an unexpected turn when his longtime friend Chanchal Kumari (Sara Ali Khan) seeks his help. Chanchal’s relationship with her boyfriend, Sunny (Vijay Raaz), faces strong opposition from Sunny’s father because they belong to different castes. To avoid suspicion and protect the couple’s relationship from constant surveillance, Pandey and Chanchal pretend to be romantically involved.Their deception becomes increasingly complicated when their mutual friend Nilofer (Rakul Preet Singh) discovers the arrangement. As misunderstandings grow and emotions become entangled, the characters must navigate loyalty, friendship, and the social pressures surrounding love and marriage.
