Orang Ikan
A notorious Japanese prison ship known as the Hell Ship transports British prisoners of war along with Japanese defectors, including Saito (Dean Fujioka), who is chained to an English soldier, Bronson (Callum Woodhouse). Bound together only by hatred and cultural differences, their fates intertwine when the vessel is sunk by an Allied submarine, leaving them stranded on a remote Indonesian island.
Written and directed by Mike Wiluan (Buffalo Boys – 2016, Losmen Melati – 2023), Orang Ikan is an ambitious international co-production between Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and the UK, with support from the Singapore Film Commission. The creature effects were created using practical methods by Allan Holt (Jurassic World – 2015, Underworld: Blood Wars – 2016).
The film is scheduled for worldwide release in mid-2025, with its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024.
