Nocturnal
Bae Min Tae (Ha Jung Woo), a construction worker who is also a gang member, one day receives news that his younger brother, Bae Seok Tae (Park Jong-hwan), has been mysteriously killed. Not only that, his brother’s wife, Moon Young (Yoo Da In), is also reported missing. Upon hearing the news, Bae Min Tae immediately seeks help from his friends to uncover clues surrounding his brother’s death. Strangely, Bae Seok Tae’s death appears in the plot of a novel titled Nocturnal Trip, written by Kang Ho Ryeong (Kim Nam Gil). The discovery leaves Bae Min Tae confused, angry, and frustrated.
Nocturnal was the only South Korean film screened at the Glasgow Film Festival and also received praise from the festival’s director, Allison Gardner. Directed by Kim Jin Hwang, the film showcases high-quality performances while offering an intriguing plot and unexpected twists. Nocturnal also marks Kim Nam Gil’s first film since his role as Woo Jin in A Man of Reason (2023). Containing proportionate scenes of violence, Nocturnal has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 17 and above.
