Fajar (Bhisma Mulia) is about to marry his beloved Rahma (Maizura) in her hometown in West Sumatra. Together with his mother Ratih (Brilliana Affira), father Sapto (Whani H. Darmawan), and other family members including his uncle Ganjar (Bambang Gundul), uncle Bambang (M. Nur Qomaruddin), aunt Sulis (Joanna Dyah), and grandfather Mbah Rekso (Susilo Nugroho), they depart from Yogyakarta to Padang Pariaman. Meanwhile, Rahma’s family has already prepared for a traditional Minangkabau-style wedding. But as the appointed day nears, Fajar’s family has yet to arrive, causing tension and confusion.
Menuju Pelaminan was selected through the Indonesia Film Financing (IFF) Pitching Forum and is part of PFN’s commitment to supporting local filmmakers in strengthening the national cinema ecosystem. The film explores the nuances of interethnic marriage and family dynamics with warmth and cultural richness. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified this film as suitable for audiences aged 13 and above. (tin)
