Mama: Message from Hell
Sari (Nova Eliza), a renowned tarot reader trusted by politicians and business elites, dies suddenly in a tragic accident. Her daughter, Putri (Callista Arum), is devastated by the loss—until one day, she begins receiving mysterious text messages from her late mother. Each message eerily predicts future events, drawing Putri into a web of fear and confusion. Meanwhile, Murni (Hannah Al Rashid), Sari’s sister, begins investigating the cause of the accident, unaware that her niece suspects her of hiding a darker truth.
Directed by Azhar Kinoi Lubis, Mama: Message from Hell is adapted from the viral YouTube short Chat History “Mama” by Nessie Judge. The film continues Kinoi Lubis’s acclaimed career, whose works have earned recognition such as Golden Hanoman Award Nominee (Belkibolang, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival 2011) and ASEAN Skies Prize Nominee (Surat Cinta untuk Kartini, World Premiere Film Festival 2016). The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has rated this film suitable for audiences aged 13 and above. (dir)
