The Long Walk
In a dystopian America, society is bound by the ruthless annual ritual known as The Long Walk. Ordered by the authoritarian regime of the Major (Mark Hamill), 100 teenage boys are chosen to compete in an endless march, forced to maintain a speed of 5 km/h without rest and without a finish line. Failure to keep pace means death.
Among them is Raymond Garraty (Cooper Hoffman), who joins the deadly contest seeking vengeance against the Major. Alongside fellow walker Peter McVries (David Jonsson), Raymond confronts not only physical exhaustion but also the psychological torment of survival, friendship, and sacrifice in a game where only one can endure.
Adapted from Stephen King’s 1979 novel (published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), The Long Walk is directed by Francis Lawrence, acclaimed for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), which earned him a Saturn Award for Best Director and CinemaCon’s Director of the Year in 2015.
