After several years of marriage, Rusmiati (Putri Intan Kasela) and Badri (Rio Dewanto) have not been able to have children. Badri’s mother, Saidah (Ochi Rosdiana), begins pressuring her son to remarry and encourages a closer relationship between Badri and another woman, Fauziah . Fearing the loss of her husband’s love, Rusmiati makes a dangerous decision to learn the mystical practice known as kuyank from Husnah (Jolene Marie). Her choice changes the course of her marriage and brings consequences that disrupt their once-stable relationship. 

Kuyank serves as a prequel to Saranjana: Kota Gaib (2023), a film that attracted 1.2 million viewers. The film presents a horror atmosphere rooted in a Kalimantan urban legend about the kuyank, a female-headed supernatural being believed to prey on pregnant women and newborn babies. The Indonesian Film Censorship Board (LSF) has classified the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (tal)
