C. Sankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar) is a renowned and courageous lawyer. A former President of the Indian National Congress, he seeks to uncover the truth behind the bloody tragedy at Jallianwala Bagh on 13 April 1919. At the time, thousands of unarmed Indians were killed and wounded while celebrating the Baisakhi festival and protesting the Rowlatt Act, after British troops under the command of General Reginald Dyer (Simon Paisley Day) opened fire on them. The atrocity was later publicly defended by Michael O’Dwyer (Mark Bennington), the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, whose statements provoke Nair’s outrage.

Nair then takes his fight to the courtroom, assisted by Dilreet Gill (Ananya Panday), a young and idealistic lawyer. They face Neville McKinley (R. Madhavan), a formidable British-Indian lawyer. Despite suffering a setback in court, Nair remains determined to expose the truth about the massacre and ensure that the world learns what happened. Adapted from the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 17 and above.
