Ben Kriswana (Ben), Hifdzi Khoir (Fajri), Aldi Sodrak (Sodrak), Elvin Terbayang (Elvin), and Abil Sonekat (Abil) are at the lowest point in their lives. While gathering together, they come across a job offer in Kalimantan and decide to go, hoping to earn money. Upon arriving in Balikpapan, their first job fails. They later meet a mysterious elderly man (Zainal D. Abidin), who offers them work as pond caretakers. With no money and nowhere to stay, they accept the offer. Their decision is also influenced by a local belief in Kalimantan known as Kapunuhan, which warns against refusing offered food, as it may bring misfortune or disaster.

Kerja, Apa Dikerjain is the first film by Ben Kriswana Abi, a content creator from Balikpapan, who serves as both writer and director. He also involves fellow local content creators as actors in this horror comedy. The Indonesian Film Censorship Board (LSF) has classified the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (rna)
