A film production team travels from Jakarta to Bantul, Yogyakarta, for the pre-production of a film. The group consists of director Miea (Miea Kusuma), assistant director Sadha (Sadha Triyudha), production manager Dimas (Dimas Projosujadi), lead actors Diaz (Diaz Ardiawan) and Migi (Migi Parahita), along with behind-the-scenes crew members Poppy (Poppy Sovia) and cameraman Cungkring (Monty Tiwa), as well as local talent Brama (Brama Sutasara). Throughout the journey, Poppy interviews the crew and records their activities. Migi is already feeling unwell when, during the drive, they encounter a mysterious person who warns them to turn back. Upon arriving at a remote village, their camera begins capturing a series of strange occurrences, including the sound of traditional gamelan music, someone crying, and the apparition of a woman dressed in traditional Javanese attire.

The film was originally released in cinemas on 3 September 2009. Director Monty Tiwa and co-director Ivander Tedjasukmana present Keramat as an improvised mockumentary, made without a conventional screenplay, with the cast portraying themselves. Presented in a documentary style and filled with mysterious occurrences, Keramat has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 13 and above. (fat)
