Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon
Japan is constantly under attack from Kaiju (giant, powerful monsters). Kafka Hibino (Masaya Fukunishi), who works cleaning up Kaiju remains, dreams of joining the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. He reunites with his childhood friend Mina Ashiro (Asami Seto), now a member of the elite forces, and is inspired to pursue his dream again. But Kafka’s life takes an unexpected turn when he himself becomes Kaiju No. 8, a powerful monster whose identity he must keep secret. Along with his ally Reno Ichikawa (Wataru Kato), Kafka struggles to hide his new form while attempting to pass the Defense Force entrance exams.
Directed by Tomomi Kamiya, Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon not only recaps the first season but also includes a special episode, Hoshina’s Day Off. This standalone story focuses on the character Soshiro Hoshina, offering fresh perspectives and added depth.
