In the winter of 2096, siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki receive an invitation from the main Yotsuba family to take part in the selection of a successor to lead the clan. Miyuki (Saori Hayami), believing that she may be chosen, fears that her freedom will be taken away, including the possibility of being forced into a politically motivated marriage. However, this major decision could benefit her older brother, Tatsuya (Yuichi Nakamura), who has long been regarded merely as a Guardian. Amid uncertainty about her future, Miyuki gradually begins to develop unusual feelings toward Tatsuya. A series of events eventually leads them to uncover a hidden family secret.
