Invincible Swordsman
Linghu Chong (Tim Huang), a swordsman from the Huashan Sect, befriends Ren Yingying (Lu Xuan), the daughter of the leader of the Five Mountains Sword Sect. Their relationship is opposed by the Huashan Sect, sparking a conflict that ultimately leads to Linghu Chong’s expulsion from the sect. Nevertheless, their friendship continues. Linghu Chong agrees to help Ren Yingying rescue her father, who is being held captive after being defeated by Invincible East, a martial artist who wields power over the jianghu. Linghu Chong’s fellow disciples from the Huashan Sect are also taken hostage.During his journey through the jianghu, Linghu Chong rescues a beautiful woman in the Black Wood Cliff forest, who turns out to be Dongfang Bubai, also known as Invincible East (Yuqi Zhang), the leader of the unorthodox Sun and Moon Sect and the person responsible for holding Ren Yingying’s father captive. Over time, Linghu Chong’s brief encounter with Invincible East develops into mutual affection, creating an emotional conflict between them.
This action film is adapted from the classic Chinese wuxia novel The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, also known as Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, by Louis Cha/Jin Yong. He is also known as the author of the Condor Heroes trilogy. The film stars Yuqi Zhang, a renowned Chinese actress whose career rose to prominence after appearing alongside Stephen Chow in CJ7. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (ibn)
