The Hostage’s Hero tells the story of Lieutenant Colonel Taufiq (Donny Alamsyah), commander of the Indonesian Navy warship KRI Karel Satsuitubun-356, who leads a dangerous hostage rescue mission in the Malacca Strait. He is assigned to save dozens of Indonesian tanker crew members held captive by armed pirates led by Jalaludin (Rifky Balweel). During the mission, the soldiers also face personal dilemmas between their duty to the nation and the families they leave behind.

Based on historical events and fully supported by the Indonesian Navy, The Hostage’s Hero is dedicated to Navy personnel who successfully rescued 36 hostages from the tanker MT Pematang during a piracy incident in the Malacca Strait in 2004. The Indonesian Film Censorship Board (LSF) has classified this film for audiences aged 13 and above. (feb)
