James Belmont (Brad Pitt), a former Army Special Forces soldier still haunted by the trauma of his past, and Odin, his retired military working dog, are involved in a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they must struggle to make their way back to civilization. Facing extreme weather conditions and various threats from the wilderness, their journey becomes not only a fight for survival but also a confrontation with the psychological wounds they have long carried.

Behind the story, the film’s production presented challenges of its own. The character of Odin had to be portrayed by four different dogs, each performing a different role. The challenges were even greater as several scenes depicting the Alaskan wilderness were filmed in remote areas of New Zealand’s South Island, with some locations accessible only by helicopter. The film reunites Brad Pitt with director David Ayer following Fury (2014). Focusing on the bond between a man and a dog as they endure extreme conditions in the wilderness, Heart of the Beast has been classified by the Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) for audiences aged 13 and above.
