Hayya 3 “Gaza”
Abdullah Gaza (Azamy Syanqi) is the son of Firman (Denny Michail), a humanitarian volunteer who dies after returning from Palestine. Gaza is then entrusted by Ustadz Bahtiar (Ustadz Bahtiar) to an orphanage run by Umi Dewi (Oki Setiana Dewi) and Syafirah (Cut Syfa). At the orphanage, Gaza meets Hayya, a Palestinian child and war victim who was brought to Indonesia by Indonesian volunteers. Meanwhile, Rusmi (Aryani Fitriana), Gaza’s paternal aunt, struggles to gain custody of Gaza so that he can be raised by his family.
Set against the backdrop of the tragedy in Palestine on 7 October 2023, which resulted in many casualties, director Jastis Arimba hopes the film will not only entertain and contribute to the film industry, but also convey meaning and continue to raise awareness and support for Palestinian independence. Producer Asma Nadia stated that 40 percent of the profits from ticket sales would be donated to Palestine. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified the film for audiences aged 13 and above. (tin)
