Tae-jung (Kang Ha-neul), Do-jin (Kim Young-kwang), Yeon-min (Cha Eun-woo), and Geum-bok (Kang Young-seok) have been close friends since childhood. Each of them carries their own dreams and memories from their teenage years. After graduating from high school, they plan their first overseas trip to Thailand to attend a music festival where Yeon-min’s favorite DJ is performing, but the trip is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Years later, as they navigate their separate adult lives, Do-jin—who is struggling with mental health issues—urges the group to fulfill their long-forgotten promise. They finally set out on the trip to Thailand together, only to find that the journey spirals into chaos and unexpected adventures. What begins as a nostalgic reunion soon turns into a meaningful exploration of friendship, healing, and personal growth.

The First Ride quickly climbed to the top of the South Korean box office just days after its premiere. Its success is attributed in part to Cha Eun-woo, a member of the boy band ASTRO, making his comedy film debut, as well as Kang Ha-neul’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus.
