Doti: The Black Magic Sacrifice
Daeng Rowa (Billy Bujanger) is a devout practitioner of a dark art known as Doti, a sinister form of traditional black magic that demands human sacrifices. His practice leads to tragedy when Ustadz Daeng Rode (Jerry Wong) becomes the victim of a malicious accusation, ultimately burned alive by angry villagers. Fifteen years later, Ikhsan (Achmad Pule), the son of the late Daeng Rode, returns to his childhood village. His mission: to restore the function of the small mosque (mushola), which had fallen into disuse under the shadow of Doti.
Originating from Sulawesi’s culture, Doti is a traditional form of witchcraft passed down through generations among certain communities. It is believed to wield supernatural powers to influence or even harm others. Still practiced in parts of the region today, Doti remains a subject of both fear and fascination. The Film Censorship Institution of Republic of Indonesia (LSF) has rated this film suitable for viewers aged 13 plus. (tin)
