Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback
Inspector Kansuke Yamato (Yūji Takada) of the Nagano Prefectural Police once pursued a gun shop robbery suspect who had been on the run for eight years. During the chase, Yamato was shot near his left eye and buried in an avalanche. Though he survived, the incident left him with fragmented memories of what truly happened. Years later, Yamato and his partner, Yui Uehara (Ami Koshimizu), are called to investigate a violation at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory. Meanwhile, Detective Kogoro Mori (Rikiya Koyama) receives a startling call from his former colleague, Koji “Wani” Sametani (Hiroaki Hirata), who has been digging into the avalanche case from Yamato’s past. Before they can meet, Sametani is gunned down in front of Kogoro, his shocking death sparking the beginning of a mystery deeply tied to Yamato’s hidden past.
Director Katsuya Shigehara infuses this film with a darker, more psychological edge than previous entries. Unlike earlier Detective Conan films that balanced mystery with lighthearted comedy, One-eyed Flashback adopts a noir-inspired visual style, with somber tones, an ominous atmosphere, and themes of vengeance. This installment has been regarded as the most “noir” Conan film to date, offering suspense, tension, and an emotionally charged mystery.
The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback for viewers aged 13 plus. (ian)
