Daniel : The Fiery Furnace
Exiled to Babylon, Daniel (Mena Massoud), along with his three friends Shadrach (Zaki Ali), Meshach (Vladimir Angelove), and Abednego (Oncel Camci), rises to prominent positions in the royal court and earns the trust of King Nebuchadnezzar (Elijah Alexander) through their intelligence and wisdom from God. However, when King Nebuchadnezzar issues a decree requiring all his people to worship a giant golden statue, Daniel and his friends refuse to compromise their faith. They remain steadfast even when faced with the threat of execution in a blazing fiery furnace and being thrown into a lions’ den.
Adapted from the story in the Book of Daniel in the Bible, this is not the first film to bring the story of the Prophet Daniel to the big screen. One of the best-known previous versions is the Hollywood film The Book of Daniel (Anna Zielinski, 2013). The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified Daniel: The Fiery Furnace for audiences aged 13 and above. (feb)
