Conclave
When the Pope (Bruno Novelli) dies of a heart attack, Cardinal Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with overseeing the conclave, a gathering of Catholic cardinals from around the world at the Vatican to elect a new pope. Four cardinals emerge as leading candidates: Aldo Bellini (Stanley Tucci) from the United States, Joshua Adeyemi (Lucian Msamati) from Nigeria, Joseph Tremblay (John Lithgow) representing Canada, and Goffredo Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto) from Italy. Conflicts, intrigue, and hidden conspiracies among the candidates form the core of the story.
Directed by Edward Berger and adapted from Robert Harris’s 2016 novel of the same title, Conclave received six nominations at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Actor (Ralph Fiennes), Best Supporting Actress (Isabella Rossellini), Best Director (Edward Berger), Best Screenplay (Peter Straughan), and Best Original Score (Volker Bertelmann). The winners of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards were announced on 5 January 2025. The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has classified Conclave for audiences aged 13 and above. (sof)
