Kitab Sijjin & Illiyyin
Yuli (Yunita Siregar) loses everything—her parents, her home, and her dignity after becoming a victim of relentless bullying. Broken and vengeful, she seeks retribution against the Ambar family (Djenar Maesa Ayu), who have treated her with cruelty. She turns to a shaman to cast deadly black magic on each member of the household—Laras (Dinda Kanya Dewi), Rudianto (Tarra Budiman), Dean (Sulthan Hamonangan), and Tika (Kawai Labiba)—triggering horrifying rituals involving corpses left unburied for more than 40 days, all within a chilling seven-day curse.
A sequel to Sijjin (2023), this film is directed once again by Hadrah Daeng Ratu, a prolific female filmmaker known for her contributions to Indonesian horror cinema. The story draws inspiration from Islamic concepts of two spiritual records. Sijjin is a book containing the deeds of the wicked. Illiyyin is a record honoring the righteous.
Hadrah’s notable works include Jaga Pocong (2018), Makmum (2019), Aku Tahu Kapan Kamu Mati (2020), Menjelang Ajal (2024), and Pemandi Jenazah (2024). The Indonesian Film Censorship Institution (LSF) has rated this film suitable for audiences aged 17 and above. Viewers are advised to choose films responsibly according to the age classification.
