Detective Soegeng (Baskara Mahendra) investigates a series of brutal murders targeting village officials in an area around Lubang Buaya. Each victim is found with a gaping black hole in their back. Amid growing fear in the community and unrest that further complicates the situation, Soegeng uncovers unexpected dark secrets involving the victims. The investigation leads him into grave danger, threatening not only himself but also his family and those closest to him. Nevertheless, he remains determined to solve the case and restore safety and peace.
Lobang Buaya: 309 Hari Sebelum Tragedi (The Hole, 309 Days to the Bloodiest Tragedy) is directed by Hanung Bramantyo, who is known for exploring historical and cultural themes in his works. Combining horror with historical tragedy against the backdrop of 1960s Indonesia, the film draws inspiration from various narratives surrounding the events of the 30 September Movement of 1965 and was selected for the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2026. Hanung continues his exploration of socio-historical themes while strengthening his international presence, following Gowok: Kamasutra Jawa (2025), which was screened at the same festival.
