The world’s most lovable gang of animal outlaws is back in The Bad Guys 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 heist comedy hit. Adapted once again from Aaron Blabey’s bestselling children’s books, the film continues the story of Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos), and Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina). Now under the watchful eye of Governor Diane Foxington (Zazie Beetz), the gang must face their biggest challenge yet: staying on the straight and narrow. But temptation calls when a trio of new villains Kitty Kat (Danielle Brooks), Pigtail (Maria Bakalova), and Doom (Natasha Lyonne) force them into pulling off “one last job” that could either cement their status as heroes or drag them back into the shadows of crime.
Directed by Pierre Perifel and JP Sans, the sequel stays true to the franchise’s distinctive hybrid animation style, blending 2D aesthetics with slick 3D visuals. The result is a vibrant, stylish, and fast-paced action comedy that channels the spirit of Ocean’s Eleven (Steven Soderbergh, 2001) while adding family-friendly humor. With Daniel Pemberton’s energetic score, razor-sharp comedic timing, and a heartfelt message about courage, redemption, and not judging others by their past, The Bad Guys 2 is both a thrilling caper and a playful moral tale.
