Following their defeat by Thanos and his forces, the surviving Avengers—Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and other members of the team—are determined to reclaim the Infinity Stones from Thanos. They devise the Time Heist, a mission involving time travel, split into several groups, and return to different locations and points in time to collect all six Infinity Stones. The outcome of the Time Heist remains the same. However, it is followed by two significant events involving Dr. Banner and Captain America, as well as a mysterious clue connected to an approaching new era of the universe.

Avengers Endgame: Encore is released as a lead-in to Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for late December 2026. Rather than simply re-releasing Avengers: Endgame (2019), the Encore edition includes an additional special story introduction as well as new information related to Doomsday.
